CURRENCY AND FORMS OF PAYMENT

The Romanian Lei is the currency of Romania. Most payments must be made in Romanian Lei; US dollars and Euros can be used in payment only in the duty-free area of the Airport. However, there are numerous exchange houses and banks where major currencies such as US dollars and Euros can be easily converted to lei. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and major shops; the credit card payment involves subsequent conversion to Romanian lei.

Bucharest has a temperate-continental climate, with average temperatures of 10°C (minimum) and 21°C (maximum) in the month of May.

The power supply in Romania is 220 volts, 50 hertz.

TRANSPORTATION WITHIN ROMANIA

Romania has a good road network, together with first class long distance bus/coach transportation. Most major car rental companies have representatives in the capital, additionally Bucharest boasts one of the most modern and efficient subway systems– the Bucharest Metro.

Direct dial telephones can be found the length of the country and the mobile phone communications infrastructure is well-set up.
